Really really bad experience

I cannot express how disappointed I am with Select Home Warranty. From start to finish, my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Heres why:

Poor Customer Service: Every time I called, I was put on hold for what felt like an eternity. When I finally got through, the representatives were rude, unhelpful, and seemed completely uninterested in resolving my issues.

Denied Claims for No Reason: When my HVAC system broke down, I filed a claim, only to have it denied for "pre-existing conditions." Funny how they were happy to take my money but refused to honor their coverage when I needed it most.

Delays and Excuses: Even when they did approve a claim, it took weeks for a technician to show up. Meanwhile, I was left without essential home systems, and their customer service had nothing but excuses.

Hidden Fees: I was shocked to find out that I had to pay a "service fee" every time a technician came out, even though I was under the impression this was covered by my plan. This company nickel-and-dimes you at every turn.

Unreliable Contractors: The technicians they sent were unprofessional, late, and did subpar work. One even tried to upsell me on repairs that werent covered, which felt like a scam.

Cancellation Hassle: When I finally decided to cancel my policy, they made it nearly impossible. I had to jump through hoops, and they still tried to charge me for months after I canceled.

Fraud

We have had two unauthorized technicians show up at our property. We called you on 12/30 when an unauthorized technician showed up at 7:30pm.

Today we had another unauthorized technician show up. Someone in your company is leaking our information.

Today Eleanor said no technician has been assigned to us which I knew because of the email I received from you in the AM. She finally said just call the police. It not on our end.

Its on your end as how did they get my information and address and phone number. I have asked to speak to a supervisor several times, I have yet spoken to one.

Unexpected Additional Fees for Terrible Service

I finally had my washer fixed today after more than 2 months of waiting. Weeks passed between communications and there was an embarrassing lack of communication from SHW with me and the appliance tech about approving the needed part.

Certainly, you fell short on several occasions of responding or resolving my issues within 48 hours. Today, after 8 emails and several phone calls, my issue was finally resolved and I was required to pay additional fees for labor.

It is completely counter to the promise I heard when I paid for your service and completely unacceptable to add fees after such incompetence and failure to deliver. I would like the labor fee to be refunded or I will contact the Better Business Bureau and share my experiences widely with others so they will understand what kind of service to expect from your company.

Pissed

I submitted a claim December 17, 2024, today is January 2, 2025, I've called 4 times in 3 weeks no technician as been dispatched no email and no call back I was told it would be 48 hours for a technician to come out and they randomly closed the case. I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told 4 hours for a call back on the 5th hour I called back again to speak to a supervisor I was told 48 hours now I've made a total of 6 calls to this place trying to get a technician to come out and check my *** pump.

I tried reaching out to them numerous times and they still continue to hold fast to the fact that I got the repair done not using their preferred provider because it was an emergency and I had to get my plumbing fixed. So now I’m just trying to get them to pay what their provider would’ve paid for the repair at least pay that is fair and they’re refusing to pay anything because I didn’t get authorization to have The Repair REPAIR) done first even though it was an emergency.

I had an emergency and I had no plumbing in my house so I had to have a company come out and fix it and when I tried to submit it to my home warranty, which this was covered, they had a clause in the coverage saying that if I didnt allow them to do it, they would deny the claim. They did not show any provisions for emergency work.

They are right now refusing to reimburse me for any of the repairs because I did not use their preferred provider. The fact remains that I had a problem with a covered item and they used a technicality to avoid paying me for a $6000 replacement. They refuse to work with me.

They refuse to help me and then I asked for a refund for the balance of my policy and a cancellation and they refused. I do believe that is illegal to refuse to give me a refund on the balance of my warranty.

Preferred solution: I want them to pay me a fair settlement price on the replacement that I had to make.

Claim status

I bought a 2 year paid in advance service plan. ( wth many advantages in price compared to paying monthly) I was initially told that I had to wait 30 days before making a claim.

I waited about 45 days placed a claim for a broken refridgerator. They assigned a repair person to come out to my house to do an inspection, and evaluate my claim. I then paid him $60.00 as instructed by the claims representative when I opened the claim. The repairman said that the company would let me know if the claim would be honored.

I waited for about 3 days and called to find out the status and was told that the claim had been denied because it was made within the 60 day waiting period. I did not understand the person's English, but he mentioned it was 30 days and another 30 days. I honestly very politely told him I paid for 2 years of service in advance and was told it was a 30 day waiting period. I then asked for a manager.

He explained that there would be a person calling me the next day. I waited for a call from a manager but not call from anyone.

I will be calling my credit card company to request a refund. Buyer beware.

Stay Away bad company does not honor their claim

SHW IS BAD BUSINESS. THEY DO NOT HONOR CLAIM EVEN AFTER 30 DAYS OF BUSINESS AND ASK TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER 30 DAYS WHICH THEY SAY AS PER THER SECTION 10.1 AS EFFECTIVE DATE.

THEY DID NOT COVER ANY REPAIR.

THE TECHNICIAN THEY ASSIGNED DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO CHECK AND JUST GAVE A VERDICT BASED ON HIS KNOWLEDGE YOU NEED A REPLACEMENT. BY THE WAY REPLACEMENT OF PARTS IS NOT COVERED, THE APPLIANCE IS NOT COVERED THEN WHY THE *** AM I BUYING WARRANTY ?

Wouldn't cover old appliances

I made a claim for dishwasher a month after moving into an older house. They wouldn't cover it so I asked to cancel my policy.

Still havent recieved a refund after a month or more! VERY UNHAPPY with VERY POOR customer service!

Not Happy with CLaim service

Date: Friday 10/18/2024 450PM EST.

I filed a claim for a plumbing problem on Saturday Oct 12th. I did hear from Select Home Warranty on Monday Oct 14th that the claim was assigned to Clinton Appliance. Clinton Appliance has never contacted me at all for 5 days. I have contacted Clinton Appliance 3 times and left voice mails, but no reply back to me on when they will come out to my house.

I did contact Select claims department at 4:20PM 10/18/2024 and I was told the claim is being reassigned because of no contact.

That means I have wasted 5 days for a problem that should have been fixed in a couple of days. I now have to wait until Monday or Tuesday (Oct 21-22) to get a new contractor.

I joined your company in August 2023 because I was told you have fast home service. That is a LIE!

I am sorry I left my old Home Service Company. I am not impressed and as a Military Vet I will make this known to other Vets Nation wide.

Poor Customer Service

Select Homes refuses to fix my split unit heat pump. The reps in claim department are all foreigners or immigrant or whatever they are who cannot understand plain English.

They continue to give me and my HVAC tech the run around. My HVAC tech tried to tell them that the compressor froze up and they keep telling us it's a freon leak to avoid paying the claim. They even went as far as hanging up on my HVAC tech.

Paid $1995 for this policy Big rip-off. Stay awayAny suggestions what I can do?

No matter if you have an emergency, they ALWAYS find exclusions why they can't fix if. My heating and air conditioner completely broke down and had the HVAC tech call them and explained my problem, and, they did nothing to help. For your own good STAY AWAY Customer service calls are taken from immigrants and foreigners who can't speak or understand English

This company refuses to cover an air conditioner compressor failure. Then, this company refused to cancel my eight policies. Then this company sent me a refund check for $450 when I had prepaid $9000 one year earlier.

This is a really bad company.

I finally got a refund, after filling this complaint and notifying the BBB. The companies customer service, billing and the original sales person was useless in getting any reasonable resolution. They made it as difficult as they could, I just stayed on top of them until I finally received some justice.

A manager called and said they would return my cancelation fee as a curtosey, I unfortunately did not take his information because I was driving when he called. Ever since then I have asked about my refund and everyone has amnesia. They just responded to my other complaints to give the illusion they are concerned, but they are truely a company with no integrity at all!

I had them for about 5 months (3 homes). I made one claim, and they did everything they could to deny it.

Furthermore, I than asked to cancel my policy (which I just paid for 8 days ago) The manager lied to me and said I was covered until the end of the month only to receive an email saying I was cancelled immediately. I than proceeded to ask for a refund for the remainder that was not covered.

They have made my refund request so difficult. I'm not sure how they are ranked so high, they are terrible!

Bad service

washer broke technician camo out on july 9 2024 was told the service charge of $70.00 had to be cash. Washer needs a cold water valve it is a week later I have not heard a word .Washer still not working tried call select on hold half an hour finally when they answered they cannot speak clear English.

They also say if you are on hold press the pound key and they will call you back .

They don't call back. This company is the worse not worth the aggravation the washer should have been fixed by now !

I have had 3 claims now with SHW, and they have not completed any of them. Lastly was my fridge went out over a month ago, took 4 days for a tech to show, 5 days later they say they cant fix it, I got nothing.

Then my air conditioner went out, 12 days ago, and still no tech.

Im done, I asked for a refund, never get it, I asked for 2 $200 checks for their failure to resolve these problems, Ill never get it, so Ive called the BBB, called my lawyer, emailed him the contract. We will see what happens.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY, SAVE IT AND PUT IT TO USE WHEN YOU NEED IT.

YOU WILL GET YOUR PROBLEMS FIXED 1000 TIMES QUICKER.

DO NOT USE SELECT HOME WARRANTY.

IF YOU DO, YOU WILL REGRET IT, JUST LIKE THE REST OF US.
