Nothing is actually covered

1. Free roof coverage.

It is complete BS and is worthless in every way. I called to request a claim. They sent a "person" who not only did not get on the roof but did not even get on a ladder at all. It was a drive by at best and based upon that crap alone denied my claim.

They will never pay a claim.

2. It took almost 3 weeks to get them to send a plumber to deal with an issue in my condo. In the meantime, the problem caused damage and continued to get worse. Then, just to spite me even more, they denied the claim.

Seriously, what good is a warranty company that takes 3 weeks to provide service and denies every claim. I could have hired a plumber and paid the same in 20 less days.

3 I filed a claim over a broken ceiling fan.

To purchase a replacement fan and get it installed cost me 220 dollars, and they paid me 45 dollars. Seriously, in what world can u buy a nice one and have it installed for 45 dollars.

Waste of time!

These people took my money ($42) a month for about two years knowing full well they had no plumber available in my area. When I finally had a leaky kitchen line under my house, they had me waiting for two weeks before telling me to call my own plumber.

I was lucky enough to find a free estimate company and have him call Select with a diagnosis which was denied the next day (Select Said) due to rust and corrosion which I did not hear my plumber say over the phone. I called the plumbing company to verify what was said and sure enough they did not say that.

Select Home Warranty will NOT cover replacements or Repairs.

Select Home Warranty Is a complete ripoff. I got the 3 year package from them their low Service charge of $60 may seem worth it but they make you pay in the long run.

Aside from getting the majority of my claims denied the claims that they do approve you have to come out of pocket with 50% or more of the cost of a repair or replacement. They will always find a way to say something isn't covered.

I had a service call for a Busted clogged drain line and they only gave me $250 of the $600 cost. Their excuse was that, get this "the plumber was using a tool that was not covered in the warranty and i had to pay out of pocket for the tool" would you believe that?

My 2nd refrigerator went bad, luckily i had another because it took them 4 months to cut me a $200 check to put towards a NEW refrigerator.

Had the transformer for my doorbell go out they Denied the claim said the doorbell was out side of the house... The doorbell itself yes..

the transformer....Mmmm not so much.

This company is a complete Rip OFF...not locking yourself into long term contracts with this company....

The Customer Service is horrible...They lied to me to the point they said my was approved and it was ok to call the technician and tell him he can come out. i asked them to call with the technician on 3 way (because iv been through this before) they called but would not click over so i can hear lol. So yea.. It wasn't approved and the technician could not come out until 2 days later because it takes 24-48 hours for approval...

I would suggest not to use this company at all. Iv seen better service at Waffle House on a late Saturday night, at least Walmart will give you refunds...

They will not replace my washer

Bought 3- year policy. Big mistake!

Bought on 1/16/22 filed a claim 2/21/22 washer would not drain.

So thought ok have policy so we are good.

Well repairman came 3/15/22 said it was no repairable! Just great, but we have that warranty, right? Well they said they will not replace it because its not over 30 day ?

Bought on 1/16/22? No for replacement you have to have the policy for 30 days after the first 30 days?

So instead of wording it to say 60 days they word it so think your covered but your not!

Bunch of liars!

Never had a company like this never will again! Save your money tell them to stick it!

Finally after 2 months I got a plumber but still I don't recommend this company to anyone because I ended up paying 600 dollars myself because they don't tell you when you purchase the warranty the truth on what they cover I am still totally disatified with this comti will not be renewing with them

Disappointing experience and waste of money

I submitted two claims both declined based on a lay person's description, of service required their favorite go to is 9.1.2 exclusions to coverage I understand if tech shows up and verifies the 9.1.2 exclusion the cost would have been on the contract holder as a service call fee. Let me also say I paid up front for this policy in full.

Preferred solution: Just let tech's show and evaluate and then decide if it is covered.

They try to deny every claim

Instead of paying the claim they fight you every inch of the way. For example my garage door opener went bad.

They denied the claim saying they don't cover garage doors. That is true but they do cover garage door openers. Then they told me to have my tech install a new opener and they would pay for it. I did what they said and instead of paying for it they offered me cents on the dollar.

Finally them claim they will replace items they can't fix.

this is false because the policy has such low payout limits that it never covers a replacement so you get stuck paying a chunk of the repair. Stay away....you have been warned.

This business is a SCAM!! I've never been so humiliated and disregarded as a human being like I was with Select Home Warranty.

They screwed me over 3 times, and I've only been a customer for less than a year. First, they nearly let my 83-year-old mom freeze to death by saying they don't have anyone to approve to get my heating problem fixed because it was the weekend. I thought they were open 24 hours/7 days a week! They told me to go ahead and pay it and someone will be available to get it approved on the following Monday.

I paid over $500 to get this done. They told me to send in the invoice for reimbursement. I put in for the reimbursement less the $75.00 fee. They told me it would take 30 days to get my check.

They even emailed to confirm this.

Secondly, I called in service for my microwave a couple of weeks after. They told me to send the make and model and then sends an email to say they can't repair it. They will give me (once I get someone to repair it and send a copy of the invoice) $90.00 towards the microwave. Remember, no one came to see what the problem is.

Thirdly, I called them this morning to follow up on my reimbursement and get this....

they told me that I can't receive my money because I canceled my account. I told them I spoke with one of their representatives (before canceling) to ask if canceling my account would affect my reimbursement check. The Representative said no and to wait 30 days to receive my check. They even emailed me confirming this.

I spoke with a supervisor this morning, who confirmed to me that I will not be receiving my check due to me canceling my policy. So, I'm shafted again. Mind you, I was crying because I can't believe a company of this size would treat customers like this. I am flabbergasted!

How can you trust a company like this? Why would the representative lie and tell me I wouldn't have a problem getting my check? Do you think I would cancel my policy if I knew it would impact me receiving my check? PLEASE!

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS COMPANY! They are liars and will do anything to not pay out a claim.

Horrible service

Horrible company to deal with! I had claims and both were denied.

One was July 2021 central a/c unit not working properly. I reported my claim. They sent out a technician to look at the a/c unit. He tells me it is a maintenance issue.

After being at my house

several times I don't think their technician owns any tools but a cell phone. I had to hire an hvac company on my own to fix my a/c unit. It was more than a maintenance issue. Claim two Nov 2021 my furnace pilot light kept going out.

They sent out the same technician with his cell phone to fix my furnace. This claim went on for months. Feb 2022 I hired another company on my own to fix the furnace. It turned out the furnace was bad.

I had to purchase a new furnace on my own. Select home warranty denied my claims and paid nothing. Stay away from this company.

In their contract, there are so many stipulations that they will not have to pay a claim. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

SELECT HOME WARRANTY, sent Sears to come to my home and check why dish washer not cleaning dishes on 2-2-2022. Tech said I needed a plumber, for this visit I paid $75.00.

I called, and called Select home warranty and explained what the tech said I needed Plumber, for Air Gap to my Dish washer. Well, they ignored me. So, I got a hold ofBetter Business Bureau. Then I got Supervisor of Customer Service in Jersey on 2-7-2022.

He said Lakeview Plumbing would get a work order and I wouldn't have to pay again. But NOTHING OR NOBODY HAS CALLED ME AND TODAY IS 2-11-2022.

I attempted to report two claims. I was told that my water heater and oven were covered.

The water heater leak was not covered. It is a water heater and they leak sometime. My oven recently failed. The control panel is no longer produced.

The reason the warranty did not cover a repair...it was too expensive. Therefore the claims department said no. They did say that they would give me $200.00 if I provided an invoice to repair or replace at my expense. What do they cover???

I AM VERY SORRY THAT I PURCHASED A WARRANTY FROM select home warranty. READ AND ASK QUESTIONS IN ORDER TO DETERMINE IF THEY ARE LEGIT. I AM WARNING ALL WHO READ THIS BEWARE!!! DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR PRESENTATION.

No heat

We provided them w 9 local HVAC companys in our area. They want us to pay up front. Why do we have a home warranty of this is happening. We were told when we purchased a 3 year warranty that all we had to pay was $60 for any service call.

Claim Not Paid and Length of Time for Repair

My furnace went out when it was 25 degrees outside. It took 13 days to effect the repair then Select paid me $150 on a $850 claim.

I also had to buy 3 space heaters to keep my home and myself warm in winter weather.I was insuring 2 homes.

I have cancelled both warranties because they aren't worth the paper they are written on. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

I am never renewing with this company

My stove has an F7 reading, causing my oven not to work. The repair person came out and said GE does not make the part anymore.

He never looked inside the panel to see if it actually needed a part or just to be cleaned. SHW would not replace the unit and said they would give me only $225. towards the replacement or to the repair if I call the repair person back. I would have to spend my money first in order to get the reimbursement.

I don't have the money to replace the oven, and so I am *** out of luck. I paid the repair person $60. For what? That money could have gone toward a new oven in the future.

He did absolutely nothing but took off the nobs and then replaced them, and pretended he was looking something up on his computer. To replace my oven would cost over $800. This is something SHW is not willing to do.

My advice is not to give them $450 or whatever they charge for membership. Put that money aside in case you need to actually replace an appliance or whatever because they will never replace the unit but give you what they think is market value, and it will be way below the value.

Refrigerator/freezer went out the week of Christmas.... Reported the problem to SHW, and they said they would put this on their "urgent" list,,,, Well this urgent list is Jan 11, almost a month out...

Called the back and spoken to a supervisor (actually spoke to 2 so called supervisors, Keanen and Mason. Mason told me to get my own guy, find out what the problem was, then call it in and report the nature of the problem and the amount to fix the problem.... So got a repair man out today (12/28/21), and he gave me the descripition of the problem, and the price. Mason has told me that I should call in and get the SHW folks this info, and they would approve it (or disapprove) on the spot will the repair man was waiting,,, He assured me this would only take a few minutes...

Well call in, the the telephone person said I had to go to a website a enter the problem and price, and they would get back to me in a day or so.... I kept asking for a supervisor, and after about 5 minutes + of asking, they said a supervisor would call me back in 30 minutes.... Well it has been 45 minutes, and no call (did not expect one, because the folk lie).... So I go to the website to enter the repair info, and there is not a place to enter it....

My repairman got tired of waiting, so he left.... So I am left hanging by the BOGUS company again... (Had a plumbing problem about a year ago. They could not even find a plumber over about a 0ne month period +, so I got my own plumber, and paid $900 +, and this bogus outfit paid me (finally) about $200...

Had a plumbing problem a couple of weeks ago, and I did not even call SHW because I knew they could or would not help.... So I spent $500 + to fix this problem..... DO NOT BUY A HOME WARRENTY from this company....

I could tell you a lot more about their POOR performance, but I don.t have time.... Got to get my refrigerator fixed!!!
