Buyer beware they do not honor their contracts and will scam you out of money. I purchased a 3 yr contract for 1349 and after a year they could not repair several items such as a refrigerator and dryer. They lie and cheat customers and canceled the contract rather than honor it after 1 year and the amount I was refunded was 24.00.

They would only pay $150 of the $600 bill. Found my own tech to replace it for $400.

Still no $150 check from Select Home Warranty. Still pissed.

Said I didnt have 3 years previous service. Only lived here 1.5 years and had it inspected and cleaned when I moved in.

On June 21st realized my AC wasn't working. Made a claim right away.

Was told that I would get a response in 24-48 hrs. 3 days later received an email with a tech info. I made the appointment with the tech on June 25th. Condenser and fan motor needs to be replaced.

Was told to send pictures of serial numbers any service in past 3 years. Sent picture on 25th. Heard nothing back. Called customer service on July 1st they said to send pictures of serial number, unit, and past service.

I resent pictures. July 6th customer service said it would be 1 day. July 7 was told 2 days, Afternoon July 7th was told by customer service supervisor in would be by130pm on the 8th.

July 8th I was told by a different supervisor in would be 1 to 2 days but maybe not til Monday, because no one works weekends. So 1-2 days or 5 day????

Still waiting for my claim. 3 weeks!!

Freezer stopped working

Called Select and spoke with Hazel at 1130am on 7-4-20. She stated it would be within 24 hrs we would be contacted with a technician. I explained this is my freezer and I'm going to lose all of the food in it. No empathy at all - 24 hrs!!! At 1203pm on 7-5-20, I called again &;;;;;;;;;;;;; spoke with Shareena - again, no success - technician did not respond to the request. No one available to speak with regarding calling this an emergency. Heating/cooling & refrigeration should ALWAYS be an emergency!! Then I discover I can contact my own technician but would not approve him until he gets here and they speak with him! ALSO, I am now told that if it cannot be fixed we are responsible for replacing it ourselves and wait on a check from them to cover the expense!! We were NEVER tolWd this by the salesperson. You people are a joke!

Sales was told the house was purchased a year ago and that there was no way of knowing the history of the systems. They said it would not be a problem and I could still get covered.

Boy, was I wrong. Had my first claim and it has been a fiasco. No Heating and air company wants to work with them and after 2 days waiting on service tech to call and schedule appointment. I called the assigned company who said they no longer did service for Home Select.

Then I had to find my own company.

Pending authorization they would repair my unit. Now, even though the A coil has failed they are using the excuse of the leaking coil to not replace it because there is a freon leak.which is caused by the failing coil.

Sounds like they sell you a contract under fraudulent terms and then find any reason to not uphold warranty service.

Will recommend to my many patients not buy from this company.

Horrible service

I am now on day 9 of no working AC in house. Ive had to stay in hotel with the kids two nights since this happened.

This company does everything in their power to stall and delay until i guess.. the hope.. you give up. This is truely a scam and consumer fraud.

They must have a department that focuses on their online reviews, because i have seen them reply to reviews with made up statements to downgrade how they are not a scam.

If you call them you will only get "please give us 24 to 48 hours to review your claim" they have said that everyday for 9 days. Truly sad and a messed up system we live in that allows them to opperate as a company.

Worst available company

The whole company exists based on a lie and denial. I had two encounters recently with them, which none of them was pleasant.

Their contract is full of exclusion. For example, check the plumbing part. They exclude any possible reason that a pipe may burst of broke. You guess it correct, it was one of my claims.

I had to hire my own technician because they weren't able to find one for me due to COVID. Following the instruction they provided in the email, I put the technician in touch with them to explain the case. The authorization department talked with me, and they ("David") told me I am good to go and you are covered. I gave the technician ~$940 and when I submit the claim, it got rejected.

The reason was the technician said it is a frozen pipe. I had to find the technician and put him in touch with them to update the reason because it wasn't the frozen pipe and it is a jargon they used for almost all burst pipe. After doing that, I still try to get this reimbursed, and they keep using the same excuse despite the fact he updated the reason.

I am also dealing with an AC issue now. They sent a technician, and he told them that the compressor is dead.

Now they are asking for 3 years maintenance records. I moved to this house 1.5 years ago. If I can't provide it, they will deny the claim.

I was thinking mostly bad reviews are not by ordinary people until it hit me.

Please don't waste your money on home warranty. It is all headache.

SCAM, horrible

** update** 10 days.. still no AC.

They gave me someone's email and phone to contact "Jacob John" whoever they are, they do not reply back to emails nor answer the phone number. This company received the photos they requested but yet still delays in a response or action. Ive called to AC company that came to diagnosed the issue, they said this is very slow and they will hardly cover anything. It makes it hard for the AC company to even work with them.

AC company was not surprised that we havnt heard anything.

This company is a fraud.. ive filed a BBB complaint hope someone will care that they screw us over.

End of day 8.. still no resolution.

Another hotel bill while i wait for this company to do nothing.Last phone call with them as of an hour ago. They said please take pictures of the ac unit and send us... which makes no sense.. why does their technician not take pictures if its required..

why make home owner go look around for a date plate in the basement 6 days after their repair guy came and diagnosed the problem... unless....

unless this company just stalls and hopes you give up and if you dont then basd on other reviews they will just deny you... please save your money

I have been waiting 8 days (currently) with no AC, during the months of June and July. I have 2 toddlers in the home...

I call Select Home Warranty at least dailiy and I am told "please wait 24 to 48 hours" each and every time I call them. They are like trained robots that can only say 3 or 4 lines in response to anything. "please wait 24 to 48 hours" " I am sorry for the inconvenience" "I understand your frustration" and that's pretty much it. They will not let you speak to anyone else or offer anyway to fix the problem.

I truly believe this company is purely a scam. Please don't give them your money

Open claim since October 2019... can't find technician

Filed claim for Pool Heater in Oct. 2019, as it was leaking. They said they would find a technician and come out and fix it after diagnosis. After 60 plus contacts via phone or email about not being able to find a tech and suggest I find a tech.. which again to no avail, I am at my wits end of being patient and polite. They keep putting me off and sending me from one department to another, and at least 5 times as they connect me to someone else, they hand up/get disconnected, never call back despite 2 phone numbers! It is June 23, and NO ONE has contacted me to come out and diagnosis leaky heater. PAID EXTRA on policy to cover pool heater and components. They have given me excuse after excuse, sent my claim to escalation numerous times, and still nothing. Today they used the COVID 19 excuse that no one wants to come out to diagnose it...it is OUTSIDE... it's a POOL HEATER! and there was NO COVID 19 from October until Mid March. When I signed up they talked a great talk about how great their claims are at getting serviced in a timely manner...8 months is NOT a timely manner. I just want fixed what I paid for under a warranty contract. This is not the first time I had difficulty with a claim, and they certainly don't do what they put in writing. Again, just want my pool heater fixed... need it for keeping pool warm for medical reasons.

I have called 4 times in two years. Only once did I get a quick response.

I should have know better. I signed up with them because they were cheaper.

As the saying goes you get what you pay for and this company does no perform very well. I am going to bite the bullet and get another company and will be stuck with what I paid them.

The consumer was sent a copy of their warranty agreement at the time of purchase. The consumer has 30 days from the time of purchase to review the agreement. If the consumer does not agree with the terms they had 30 days from the time of purchase they are able to terminate services for a full refund. The consumer opted to maintain services. We have followed the terms of the agreement. The consumer has been serviced accordingly.

Sales person told me untrue statements about their Service Contract

When a Salesman tells you no Fees to Cancel at anytime, and then found out not true $75.00 Cancellation fee, plus when I talked to the rep he said cancellation fee was not recorded in your contract. We have 2 contracts with them.

Yes my fault for not completely reading the contract, and believed the Sales person, but they didn't seem to care what the Salesman said at all. That was the first thing I ask him about. Plus I didn't realize if they can't fix something they go by how old the appliance is, and depreciates it. American Home Shield replaces no matter how old, so guess who I will go with next time.

Don't believe Sales people unless written in contract EVER. You're the one who gets screwed every time.

Worst Service and Harassment

GO ELSEWHERE. We are going on over 6 months now dealing with this.

I received an email with a good deal so I called the company and gave them my information. They charged my card and sent me the contract. I refused the contract as it did not match our verbal agreement. The rep was rude and could be heard making snide comments in the background.

After being assured it was taken care of I still received no refund. I called back 4 times, yes 4 times before anyone would get me to manager. They kept making excuses and would not transfer me. They connected me to someone who I do NOT think was a manager finally and again told me the same things.

It'll be taken care of so sorry for this etc.

NOTHING. No refund, emailing the reps, the "managers" and the company. No response, nothing taken care of.

Cannot even get a response from the manager. I will for sure be involving lawyers and media about this aweful company.

I had an issue with my stove top and Select home warranty sent out an appliance repair company. that was in Early March. He completely took my stove top apart, Since my stove top has cartridges, I asked him to give me a price on upgrading the stove top to glass instead of coils. HE NEVER CAME BACK, after 7 calls, I called SHW, several times, and they couldn't find another person to come by to repair and that I should find my own person. so I did, now they want to see pictures and serial numbers. THREE MONTHS LATER, and I STILL HAVE NO STOVE TOP, my Air conditioning went out, TWO units and two claims filed, there is a leak in one of them (which isn't covered) and the other unit needs a new compasitor. now they say they can't find the claim for that unit, after they had it YESTERDAY. you think COVID 19 is stressful? they are MUCH WORSE

Not paying a covered inexpensive claim

I had a shower drain leakage and called Select for repair claim. They were unable to secure a technician and asked me if I could get my own guy, which I did.

We called em while my tech was here and gave Select the repair info AND pics they asked for. Haven't heard a thing from Select and was forced to pay for my covered repair out of my pocket. I've since found out from other repair companies that Select is notorious for not paying their technicians what they owe them which is why they have a difficult time securing repair techs to do the covered work. I am going to sue them and report them to the Indiana BBB.

DO NOT buy a warranty from them. you are just handing them money for nothing.

Failure to complete claim

I had a plumbing problem that flooded the house. After 3 days without water in the house and not getting a response from the company I hired Service Today.

I have sent the invoice to this company 4 times and they say they haven't received it. I know the email went through.

They have lied and given me the run around. I'm filing a BBB complaint and canceling this warrenty.
