Denial of a service

I called and reported my AC was leaking a lot of water from the unit in my garage. They took my claim and within 5 minutes they emailed me a denial.

They told me my plan does not cover condensation of an ac. This unit is out right leaking. It wasn't condensation. They didn't even off to send someone to check it out.

You may pay less for this policy but believe me you are not getting anything for your money.

When I called to cancel the policy they wanted to try to reduce what I was paying but still not offer to send anyone out. Don't waste your money on this company.

Company Sucks

Be careful selecting this company, they find every reason to not cover stuff especially replacement. Read the fine print on what is covered for example if your HVAC system breaks they will not replace especially if Freon is involved and they do not cover replacing Freon at all.

Unethical company

I was told to wait for approval of installation of a new furnace when my furnace stopped working. It was 15 degrees that night and snow, small children in the house.

I had no choice but to have the contractor install it- I could not wait and let my pipes/kids freeze. Now Select won't pay for it because the part is not covered that was broken - the heat exchange- the part that most furnaces need replacement for. How convenient for them.

So now that I have paid for the furnace, I have obviously not renewed the policy. It is misleading advertising to say HVAC or heating is covered when only SELECT parts are actually covered.

Disgraceful Company

I reported to Select Warranty that our four-year-old $5000 plus Capital oven had a broken thermostat and *** on October 2, 2020. On October 6, I reported that the hinges and receivers for the oven door had broken off. In both cases a workman was sent out and paid $45 by me.I was told that it would cost a total of $1260 for the repair.

I was told,, and the contract states, that I would get an email reply as to the coverage within 1 to 2 days. After two days I received an email saying they would cover up to $150 for the first occurrence since I'd only been a member for 30 days. I asked him to check and they discovered that I had been a member for over 200 days and said that they would review the claim. I reminded them that there were two claims and they said they would review both of them.

I heard nothing for two days and called him back to be told that the resolution team would get back to me in one to two days. They did not. To make a long story interminable I called every day thereafter and was told essentially the same thing for two weeks.

During this time we had no stove or oven (late October In New England during the time of Covid.

Finally after threatening to go to the Atty. Gen. I was connected to a member of the resolution team. He said that the items, thermostat, oven door hinges etc. were "cosmetic."as a favor to me he would offer me $150 against the $1260 repair cost. I told him that his warranty was useless and that is people had by lying to me about potential resolution delayed the repair of this critical item. I told him that after all of this time and effort the $150 offer was an insult.

I called to cancel the policy and was told, unbelievably, that I would be charged $75 cancellation fee, a 230 day prorated membership fee and the costs of any fees that had been paid since I had begun the Warranty. In other words I would receive $380 against $1300 initial outlay.

It Is expected to take another week to get the parts and repair resolved.

The bottom line: this experience will cost us over $2300 in coverage and repair. We will be without use of the stove for approximately a month.

Stay away from these theives!!

Sprinkler system failure and select warranty denies to fix

First Select was not able to get a tech to come inspect our failed lawn sprinkler system. Eventually I was able to get a local company to inspect and give me analysis and estimate for repair after almost two weeks and with Select Home Warranty approval.

I sent in the repair estimate and after multiple follow-up calls was told that the failed pump would not be covered.

Explanation that the lack of pressure is not covered.

Coverage is under ITEM 6.4.9 of the warranty "Lawn Sprinkler Systems.

This Agreement covers all mechanical components that affect operation."

"Excluded: Lack of water pressure- Damage due to (i) freezing, (ii)heads".

This system has been working well all summer and failed in August. Which in Texas is a long ways from freezing and unrelated to a failed head.

The coverage states it covers ALL mechanical components. There isn't a more mechanical part in a Lawn Sprinkler System than the pump.

It absolutely is ridiculous that anyone would say the pump is not covered because of "Lack of water pressure", because that is the job of the pump.

Even so the exclusion states the lack of pressure is from (i) freezing or (ii) heads. I don't think you could ever find a day under 70 degrees recorded in North Central Texas.

This company is a complete ripoff and I would never recommend this company as a home warranty source to my worst enemy!!!

Company is a scam

I purchased the 3 year plan. My 1st claim was on my dryer.

I was told due to the age of my dryer it would cost more to fix it than it was worth so they offered to send me $150. About that time my garage door opener broke. They did not give me or the technician any word as to whether they would fix the garage door opener. I then called to cancel my contract.

I was told that since they had not paid out on any claims that my refund would be the cost I paid minus $1.67 per day for the 113 days I had the contract then minus $75 as a concellation fee. I received the check in about 5 weeks. However, it was $260 short. I called multiple times to resolve and was told to not cash the 1st check that they would send another check for the agreed upon amount.

Finally I called and got with someone in billing that told me I had gotten all they were going to send because they had paid the $260 to the technician. Why would they pay the technician when they weren't even going to have him fix anything? They were going to send me the check originally in lieu of fixing the dryer. and I cancelled the garage door opener because my husband bought the motor and put it on myself.

Basically they lie about everything. There are much better Home Warranty companies out there!

Ripped off as many other customers

I have had issues with my A/C unit. Out of the three claims none was paid.

They found an excuse to deny every payment. The house was new and they said maintenance was not up to date!!!! When the last problem happened the manufacturer changed the motor under warranty and a $580 bill was sent for the labor. They finally approved $150 payment!

It's been four months and today I called and they said the policy has expired and they cannot pay anymore!!! How convenient is that? Draggd their feet so they don't have to pay.

And worst, I had paid for two years of this stupid policy to get nothing covered and even if the policy was in force and approved they just do not want to pay. I am going to small claims court!

Terrible customer service

I would give this company a zero if i could. Poor customer service, unwilling to work with us and fired our contractor for not submitting his timely report on both of my appliances that broke at the same time!

When asked to speak to a supervisor on many calls -was told not allowed or possible..many of them foreigners and difficult to understand!! So after 3 weeks we are 150 out with nothing to show for it!! Tell me again why we needed to buy a Home warranty!!! They told us the previous tech was the only one in our area who serviced ..we were basically told we were on our own to find one,,,many will not work with these companies others backed up for weeks!

no fridge or washing machine for 3 weeks and stores keeping telling us the warehouses are bare and could take weeks. ! Angry..wish they would work us and come together amicably to resolve this issue!! We are done..guess we are going shopping for new ones tonite!!

DO NOT SIGN WITH THIS COMPANY!!

Fraud

SHW sent a technician to my home for dishwasher problem. The technician artificially added items to the repair order that were in good working order so that replacement of entire unit was "necessary" instead of repair.

In the first 30 days of the policy SHW will only repair , NOT REPLACE. I don't need working components to be replaced.

I just want the heating element replaced. Because of the apparent collusion between technician who didn't touch the dishwasher and SHW, I paid monthly premiums and $75 service fee and get nothing in return.
